Gabe Logan Newell (ur. 3 listopada 1962) - współzałożyciel i dyrektor zarządzający Valve Software. Razem z Dougiem Lombardim odpowiada za public relations firmy. Znany jest również z tego, że często odpowiada na listy od fanów.
Po zarzuceniu nauki na Harvardzie,[1] Newell pracował 13 lat w firmie Microsoft. W 1996 razem z Mikiem Harringtonem (także pracownikiem Microsoft) postanowili opuścić firmę i założyć Valve Software. Za pierwszy, główny cel firmy postawili sobie stworzenie Half-Life.
Gdy trwały prace nad Half-Life 2, Newell dużo czasu poświęcił projektowi platformy Steam.[2]
Gabe Newell znany był ze swoich niepochlebnych opinii na temat konsol, w szczególności Playstation 3. Twierdził, że pisanie gier pod konsole to kompletna strata czasu.[3] Podczas targów komputerowych E3 w 2010 roku, oficjalnie zmienił swoje zdanie zapowiadając wydanie Portal 2 również na konsolę Sony.
Jest żonaty z Lisą Newell, ma dwóch synów.[4]
